Grilled BBQ Chicken Breast
Ingredients
- olive oil (for brushing grill/grill pan)
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (trimmed of any fat)
- ½ cup prepared BBQ sauce (plus additional for serving.)
Instructions
-
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill with oil.
-
In a small mixing bowl combine 2 teaspoons brown sugar, 2 teaspoons smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
-
Trim any fat or grizzle off 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, place them between two pieces of plastic wrap (or parchment paper) and gently pound until each chicken breast is ½-inch thick. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over each side of the chicken using your hands to really rub the blend into the chicken.
-
Place the seasoned chicken on the preheated grill. Cover and cook for 5 minutes without disturbing. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
-
Brush the top of the chicken with BBQ sauce, then flip and cook for 2 minutes. Brush the other side with BBQ sauce, flip again, and cook for 2 more minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 163-165°F (73-74°C).
-
Transfer the chicken to a clean plate and tent with foil. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes for the juices to redistribute. Serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
